When a consumer opens an email, an automated webhook fires and triggers the opened workflow — updating the email log, the collection account status, and generating a return file. This happens automatically for every open event, giving you real-time visibility into campaign engagement without any manual steps.

Opened Workflow

1

Webhook Fires

When the consumer opens the email, an email webhook fires to notify the ACI Platform of the open event.
2

Email Log Is Searched

The system searches the email log by the recipient’s email address to find the matching campaign record.
3

Email Log Status Updated

The email log entry is updated to Opened.
4

Collection Account Status Updated

The collection account linked to that email address is updated to Opened.
5

CSV File Created

A single CSV file is created for the open event.
6

File Saved to ACI Return File Folder

The CSV is saved to the ACI Return File folder.
7

Good Sync Runs Analyze and Sync

Good Sync runs its analyze and sync process on the ACI Return File folder.
8

Return File Sent to FTP via FileZilla

The return file is sent to FTP through FileZilla, completing the open event workflow.

Tracking Open Events

Opened emails appear in two places within the platform:
  • Email Campaigns tab — displays the Opened metric with an aggregate count of open events for your campaign.
  • Email Summary tab — shows a per-address status so you can see exactly which consumers opened the email.
Each open event generates its own return file entry, allowing you to track which accounts engaged with the campaign and when.
For more details, see the Email Campaigns Tab and Good Sync documentation.
